In this session, we’ll walk you through the basics of your pelvic floor muscles and how they work. Our caring Doctors of Physical Therapy will guide you through a gentle pelvic floor exam and teach you helpful techniques to both strengthen and relax these muscles, giving you the tools to prepare for a smoother delivery and reduce the risk of complications.

In this session, we’ll focus on gentle pelvic floor lengthening techniques to help your body prepare for a smoother, more comfortable birth. We’ll talk about why relaxing your pelvic muscles is so important during delivery and guide you through exercises to help you feel confident in your body’s ability to do just that. By releasing tension in your pelvic floor, you’ll improve your body’s ability to support your baby’s journey through the birth canal. Our therapists will be right there with you, making sure you feel comfortable and confident with each movement, so you know exactly how to engage and relax your pelvic floor when it matters most.

In this session, we’ll focus on two important aspects of preparing for a vaginal delivery—perineal massage and pushing practice. We’ll start by going over perineal massage techniques to help lower the risk of tearing during birth. You’ll learn how to do the massage on your own or with your partner, and Dr. Kari will guide you on how often to practice leading up to delivery.

Next, we’ll work on pushing practice. Our therapists will show you effective pushing techniques and positions to help reduce complications during delivery. We’ll also practice breathing and relaxation exercises to keep you calm and focused when the big day comes.

In this final session of your prenatal package, we’ll focus on getting you ready for labor, delivery, and postpartum care. We’ll start by exploring labor and delivery positions that can help your baby move more easily through your pelvis, aiming to reduce complications and make you more comfortable during birth.

We’ll also cover postpartum care, including exercises and techniques to help you recover after delivery. You’ll learn pelvic floor exercises to strengthen your muscles, improve bladder control, and manage pain or discomfort during your postpartum journey.

Postpartum
I only pushed for six minutes and the doctor couldn't believe what a good pusher I was. Not only that, but I only have a first degree tear! The doctor made a point to tell me it was so clear how much my physical therapy had helped me prepare for labor. I can't thank you enough!!

Prenatal
Dr. Kari has been so helpful to me. Since having 4 children, I've had challenges with urinary frequency and the ability to "hold it" especially during any kind of impact exercise. Dr. Kari trained me in how to strengthen my pelvic floor muscles and in "urge suppression" techniques so that I don't have to interrupt my day as often to use the restroom. She is very professional and never made me feel at all uncomfortable. I highly recommend her!

Perimenopause
Dr Kari Hough has been absolutely wonderful to work with. She strives to help find techniques that are effective yet also work with my crazy schedule. With her guidance my diastasis recti has healed and I feel like I am so much stronger. I can now resume all of the activities I used to enjoy. As a runner, I was so excited to find out she had a "Return to Run" program and really understood how to help me safely get back into running. I highly recommend her to any mommas looking to get their pelvic/core strength back in line.
