In this session, we will focus on understanding the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor muscles. Dr. Kari will perform a pelvic floor muscular exam, and you’ll learn techniques to strengthen and relax the pelvic floor muscles. This knowledge will help you prepare for a smooth delivery and reduce the risk of complications.
In this session, we’ll focus on pelvic floor lengthening techniques to help prepare your body for a safe and comfortable birth. We will discuss the importance of pelvic muscle relaxation during birth and work on exercises to help you achieve optimal pelvic floor function. By lengthening and releasing tension in your pelvic floor muscles, you can improve your body’s ability to accommodate your baby’s passage through the birth canal. Dr. Kari will work closely with you to ensure that you are comfortable with each exercise and that you understand how to properly engage and release your pelvic floor muscles for optimal pelvic health and function.
In this session, we’ll focus on two key aspects of preparing for a vaginal delivery – perineal massage and pushing practice. We’ll start by reviewing perineal massage techniques to help reduce the risk of tearing during delivery. You’ll learn how to perform perineal massage yourself or with your partner, and Dr. Kari will provide guidance on how often to perform the technique leading up to your delivery.
After perineal massage, we’ll move on to pushing practice. Dr. Kari will teach you effective pushing techniques and positions to reduce the risk of complications during delivery. We’ll also practice breathing techniques and relaxation exercises to help you stay calm and focused during delivery.
In this final session of your prenatal package, we’ll focus on preparing you for labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care. We’ll start by discussing labor and delivery positions that can help your baby make its way through the pelvis more easily. We’ll explore a variety of positions that can reduce the risk of complications and make delivery more comfortable for you.
We’ll also discuss postpartum care, including exercises and techniques to help you recover after delivery. We’ll review pelvic floor exercises to help strengthen your muscles and improve bladder control, as well as strategies for managing pain and discomfort during the postpartum period.

In addition to the muscle exam, we’ll also discuss pelvic health care for healing. We’ll review techniques to promote optimal healing as well as discuss strategies for managing any pain or discomfort you may be experiencing.
In this session, we’ll focus on developing a deep core connection, which is an essential component of postpartum recovery. Dr. Kari will explore exercises to help you engage your deep muscles, including your pelvic floor muscles and transverse abdominis. We’ll introduce exercises to help you improve your deep core connection, including breathing techniques, positioning, and a variety of functional movements. We’ll also discuss how to incorporate these exercises into your daily routine to achieve optimal results.
In this session, we’ll focus on building up your abdominal muscles and pelvic girdle to improve your strength and control postpartum. Dr. Kari will begin by assessing your current level of abdominal and pelvic girdle strength, and identifying any areas that may need additional focus.
We’ll then introduce exercises and movements to help you strengthen your abdominal muscles, including your rectus abdominis, internal and external obliques, and transverse abdominis. We’ll also work on strengthening your pelvic girdle, including your glutes, hamstrings and quads to improve your overall pelvic strength and function.
In this final session, we’ll focus on helping you safely and confidently return to your normal activities, including sexual intercourse and exercise. We’ll begin by discussing your goals and preferences for returning to activity, and reviewing any specific concerns or questions you may have. We’ll then provide guidance on how to gradually increase your activity level, including specific exercises and techniques to help you prepare your body for more strenuous activity.
